Interview! Sarah Dunsmore, CDE Animal Cages
June 1, 2019Interview! Jackson Cunningham, Founder of Tuft + Paw
June 8, 2019Over the weekend, cat campers gathered at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City for two days of education, fun, and camaraderie.
We’ve been lucky enough to interview Christina Ha, the event’s founder and owner of Meow Parlour Cat Café, before this exciting event every year so we had a sneak preview of what was to come but nothing can prepare you for the excitement of actually attending. From the moment you walk in the door, you can feel the energy and the enthusiasm in the room!
After changing locations last year, Cat Camp returned to its original space – a bright airy room with crisp white walls and pretty wood floors. The organizers did a great job giving the event a summer camp feel and on Saturday and Sunday, it was filled with creative vendors, exhibitors, and camp counselors helping crowds of cat enthusiasts learn what they could do to help our feline friends lead happy healthy lives.
I also wasn't able to hang out in the cat cafe area, full of kittens chasing toys and snuggling the visitors who came to play with them - this was probably a good thing because I'm not sure I ever would have come back. More intimate sessions were held in that space as well including How to Play with Cats, hosted by Jackson Galaxy, and Kitten Yoga - which looked like lots of fun!
That wasn't your only chance to pet kitties though. Cat Camp had a special area just for visitors to get to know some special adoptable cats. Both adult cats and tiny kittens got lots of attention (including Kiss, a kitty with markings on his face that'd remind you of a certain arena rock band) and a few lucky cats found forever homes over the weekend!
