Last week, I presented Strategies to Reduce Cat Overpopulation as a free webinar to Community Cats Podcast listeners. I received quite a few comments after the session that reminded me how important it is that we all focus on fundamental basics. If we strive to reduce the number of free-roaming cats in our communities, we can’t lose our way. I hope you take the time to watch this session and share it with others. In the meantime, I am listing some of the key takeaways below:

  • We need to focus our access to care initiatives to ensure spay/neuter and rabies vaccinations are central to the conversation.
  • After a TNR initiative, the community must continue to embrace and support our community cat members and provide them with the best quality of life. This is called elevating the status of the community cat.
  • Continue educational opportunities and conversations for all to support, maintain, and monitor community cats and the cat landscape in your community.

We don’t need to make it complicated- we need to go back to basics and keep the messaging clear so we can be united in how we are helping cats and those that care for them.

Below is a listing of several resources that I think would be helpful to you as you consider your organization’s or community’s approach to cat overpopulation:

I am looking for 2-3 organizations or communities to work with me to help develop the Community Cat Calculator.  If you are interested in working on this project in April please email me directly at stacy@communitycatpodcast.com.

As we enter springtime, I recommend we all take a step back to examine our programs and get back to basics to help turn your passion for cats into action.

We are on it...

You will receive an email with the full report
shortly.

Thanks for testing out the Community Cat Calculator. It appears that your zip code may fall in more than one county. If you would like details about the methodology used, please click here to download a handy information sheet and then you can calculate the numbers on your own.
