Interview! Dr. Sara White, Founder Spay ASAP Inc.- VT
December 17, 2016Interview! Dr. Marty Becker, “America’s Veterinarian” and Founder of the Fear Free Initiative
December 22, 2016Happy Holidays from the Community Cats Podcast! In this week’s blog, I wanted to talk about the Greatest Hits line up, Being Thankful and Thoughts about Cats in Aleppo. I can’t believe we are already at the end of December. It seems like just last June when we were launching our first episodes!
This week we will be having three fantastic shows and then the Community Cats Podcast team is going to take a bit of a rest. That means on December 27, 29, and 31st we will be replaying some of our “Greatest Hits”! While I think that every show is a “Greatest Hit”, these were the ones that you listened to the most. If you didn’t listen to them before now is your chance to listen to them again.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
I want to give a shout out to Maddie’s Fund Team! The Community Cats Podcast was in the news last week and a special thank you to them for profiling the CCP in their blog! What an honor!
Also, after recording almost 130 episodes for the Community Cats Podcast, I would say that I continue to be amazed by all of the people I interview. They have such passion and determination. They are going to make their projects work, no mater what! I continue to be thankful for my guests willingness to be on the show and to share their stories.
I am also thankful to YOU, my listeners. Keep sending along guest suggestions and ideas for topics of shows. I am most interested in what your biggest challenges are, as well as pain points you experience. Feel free email me at stacy@communitycatspodcast.com. I want this show to be a resource for you and to help you make change in your community!
Finally, I would like to thank my son, Scott, for putting the idea of a podcast in my mind and showing me that it is easy (for me) to do. Also, big thanks to the CCP Team: Kristen, Jamie, Emerald City (Danny), Lisa, Anna, Julie and Juan for making this all happen. Without this group behind the scenes, these podcasts would be sitting on my laptop with nowhere to go! This is a great group, as well as many of them being cat lovers, too!
Aleppo
This last week, my mind keeps wandering back to the tragic events in Aleppo. I keep thinking about about the horrific events that the people and animals are going through. My worries for Alaa (the Cat Man from Aleppo) continue. This is just an unimaginable tragedy. I continue to monitor the situation feeling frustrated that it is virtually impossible to get supplies into him now. Please click on this link for the latest story that I found and there is also a Facebook group called Cats of Aleppo.
In the more recent reports, Alaa, the caretaker, is asking people fleeing from the city to take a cat with them. Pictures are pouring in, from young people fleeing the city with cats riding on their shoulders, to images like the ones above and below, where Alaa continues to feed these abandoned animals. The images make me sad, but also gives me hope that people are still working towards a resolution.
We can’t leave our animals behind! Justin Zimmerman’s movie SMART (Specialized Mobile Animal Rescue Team) shows just how important providing for our animals is. It is free if you have Amazon Prime. But this movie will give you hope! There has be hope somewhere for those cats in Aleppo! Please let me know if you get any updates on the situation there! I would like to follow this story even more.
Let’s be thankful for all that we have and the resourcefulness of everyone to help make the lives of our Community Cats better all around the world.
Have a great holiday and next week is our Cat Collage! I can’t wait to see what the team does with the fantastic photos that have been sent in. Enjoy! The written blog will be back on Jan 2!
